Mental Wellness: Critical Issues for Senior Care
Tue. April 16| 10:55 AM - 11:55 AM | Room 302B, Henry B. González Convention Center
Mental wellness needs of older persons living in senior housing have emerged as an area of critical focus for leadership. As the majority of the senior housing industry moves from delivery of hospitality and housing to one that provides or outsources more health care and wellness programs, there is a need to develop proper approaches to meet the mental wellness needs of older residents. Without question, residents experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, loneliness, agitation, and cognitive disorders and each requires proper assessment, treatment, and programmatic initiatives. The emerging interface between the business, operational, and clinical expertise required by the senior care industry to address the growing mental wellness needs of older residents is the focus of this session.
